Wedding Save the Date Announcements

It is not too early to start thinking about your Wedding Save the Date Announcements. These wedding date announcements are typically sent out three months prior to your wedding. However, it’s best to leave plenty of time to customize, order and receive your Save the Date Announcements so you are not rushing at the last minute.

There are several choices of Save the Date Announcements. The first and most economical and environmentally friendly is the Save the Date Postcard. Postcard postage stamps are less expensive that a full rate stamp, so they end up saving you money. Also, since no envelope is required, less paper is used and that is always a good idea.

Second, is a Wedding Date Announcement in typical invitation style using either a flat or greeting card style invitation. Sizes can range in different dimensions according to your needs.

Third is the Save the Date Photo Card. Choose a design that will set the tone for your upcoming wedding and customize it with your engagement photograph or just a favorite picture of the both of you. Add your names, wedding date and location, if desired.

Last, is the Save the Date Magnet. These have grown in popularity in the past couple years as they are useful to then stick to a refrigerator to keep your wedding date top of mind. These come in several designs and can be customized with the names of the bride and groom and specific wedding date.

Wedding Cost Saving Ideas

Almost every girl has a picture of her ideal wedding in her mind.  She may dream up something that she can visualize when reading fairy tales that end with “…and they live happily ever after.”  She sees flowers, ribbons and laces.

However, when her wedding day comes, she may have other considerations on her mind.  She still dreams of her ideal wedding but she starts incorporating other subjects that represent her and her groom.  Not to mention that the bride also considers the current trends in wedding fashion and decoration.  And the most important subject to talk about when choosing decorations - the cost.

Nobody wants to spend the first few months of being married paying of debts made during the wedding preparations.  Therefore, the groom-to-be and bride-to-be should be very careful what to spend on.  Here are a few things to consider.

* Personalize the decorations.  Not only does this add a personal touch to the celebration but this also cuts down on the cost.  For example, if the bride or the groom is a photographer, they may choose having photos from their collection made the main subjects for the reception design.  The photos may also be used for invitations and keepsakes,

* Consider renting.  Most of the items that will be used for decorations will not be used again.  These include the centerpieces, the vases, the arc ways and the artificial flower arrangements.  So ask your wedding decorator for options to rent these pieces.

* Kids can get bored during the wedding reception.  So instead of having kids seated at the same table with the adults, you can have an area where kids can be more casual and can have a small party of their own. Also, consider hiring a babysitter to oversee a craft project or activity just for kids. When the kids are happy, the parents are happy.

* Marriage is a union of families.  During the wedding rites, if possible, you may alter some of the practices to include the children of the bride or groom from previous marriage or the parents and families of the couple.  Having them perform a special union rite will signify that the wedding is not just a union of two people but also of two families. When the bride and groom exchange rings, a small token or gift may be given to the children at this time also. This way they feel part of the bond as well.

* If you wanted to cut down on the cost for the wedding reception, you can perhaps invite more people to the engagement party.  Usually, only cocktails and hors d’oeuvres are served, which cost less than the full set of meals for the wedding reception guests.

* For the music, you can look for a local college band or DJ.  You can also have your favorite songs just downloaded from the Internet and saved to an mp3 player or CD to be played over the speakers during the reception.

* When considering the cost of church decorations, check if there will be another couple that will get married on the same day.  They may want to coordinate what decorations can be used for both wedding ceremonies to lessen the need to change decorations before or after the wedding and to split the cost.

Before you choose a gown or decide on a menu, there’s one task that you must begin as soon as possible. A well-thought out guest list can save time and money as you plan your wedding.

Many prenuptial arrangements can’t be made and checks can’t be written until you’ve prepared a meticulous guest list. Invitations, postage and deposits for ceremony and reception sites, caterer, baker and rental of tables, chairs, linens and place settings all hinge on the length of your guest list.

Get started on your guest list as soon as the diamond goes on your finger, and refer to it often as the weeks progress.

Start with a mini file box full of index cards or create a spreadsheet. Either way, you’ll be set to stay organized as you receive RSVPs and gifts. Keeping track of the thank you notes you’ve sent will be a breeze if you make notes as you go, plus your efforts will provide a head start on future Christmas card and baby announcement lists.

Keep track of the guests’ names, address, phone number, email address, and number of guests for that address. As they RSVP, everything you need to know will be at your fingertips.

Ready to begin your guest list? It’s easy as A-B-C! An A-B-C list, that is.

The A list is family, the B list is long-term friends of five years or more, and the C list is people you’d like to invite if your budget allows.

As you get along in the planning and it looks like you can only afford 75, cut it at the B list and leave it at that. Move on. Or, as you receive regrets from people on your A and B lists, begin sending invitations to those at the top of your C list. If you’ve planned ahead and mailed your A and B invitations early enough, your C list invitations will arrive in mailboxes with time to spare – and your C list people won’t even realize they were on the C list at all.

How many guests do you anticipate from your side of the family vs. your fiancé and his family? Start out on your road toward marital bliss by deciding early on how you’ll divide the invitations. Should your family send out half and his family the other half? Or maybe you’ll divide the stack of invitations into fourths, keeping a portion for yourself and giving the rest to your fiancé, your parents, and his parents.

How many guests should you expect? Each invitation usually represents two people. However, that doesn’t mean 200 invitations will yield a crowd of 400. Most brides end up with fewer guests than originally expected. There will always be a few guests who send an RSVP but don’t attend for whatever reason.

Will children be welcome at your wedding, or had you hoped for an adults-only affair? The best time to make this decision is while honing your guest list – not when your distant cousin with screaming triplets shows up at the ceremony.

The best way to let guests know whether kids are invited is by writing on the invitation’s inner envelope only the names of those who are invited. Instead of “John, Mary and family,” write “John and Mary.” Whatever you do, don’t state, “No children, please” on the invitation or the envelope.

They’ve gained popularity in recent years, and are an especially thoughtful way to provide out-of-town guests plenty of time to schedule time off work and make travel arrangements. Bottom line, invite those who will be honored to attend and will consider it a compliment to be part of your day.
